<h3 dir="rtl"><strong>لماذا تطوير سيناء؟&nbsp;</strong></h3>
<p dir="rtl" style="text-align: justify;"><a href="https://www.gafi.gov.eg/Arabic/Sectors/TargetedSectors/Pages/Mining.aspx">تمتلك سيناء</a> موقعا جغرافيا هاما، وقدرات <a href="https://southsinai.gov.eg/StaticContent/TabContent?ParentId=43">سياحية ترفيهية وعلاجية وثقافية ودينية</a> لمحاذاة أجزاء منها للبحرين الأحمر والمتوسط، ووجود منتجعات سياحية في الشمال والجنوب، بالإضافة لـ7 محميات طبيعية، كذلك ثروة معدنية منها جبال الجرانيت ومعادن أخرى، ووديان تحتفظ بمياه الأمطار للزراعة، وموانئ تجارية مثل العريش ونويبع.</p>
<p dir="rtl" style="text-align: justify;">وتعتبر محافظة السويس <a href="https://swideg-geography.blogspot.com/2017/03/blog-post_843.html">نموذجا</a> ناجحا لتأثير التنمية في زيادة معدل توطين البشر، حيث قامت الحكومة بإعادة بناء المدينة وأقامت فيها مشروعات صناعية أدت إلى توافر فرص العمل، بالإضافة إلى توفير خدمات السكن والنقل والصحة فزادت الهجرة الداخلية إليها، وارتفع عدد السكان بالسويس أربع مرات بين 1947 و1996.</p>
<h3 dir="rtl"><strong>خطط تنموية لم تكتمل</strong></h3>
<p dir="rtl" style="text-align: justify;">تحررت سيناء <a href="https://www.sis.gov.eg/Story/217927/%D8%B9%D9%8A%D8%AF-%D8%AA%D8%AD%D8%B1%D9%8A%D8%B1-%D8%B3%D9%8A%D9%86%D8%A7%D8%A1?lang=ar">بشكل كامل</a> في 25 أبريل 1982، لتبدأ الحكومات في وضع خطط تنميتها، فأعلن عن <a href="https://www.mwri.gov.eg/north-sinai/#1577793015114-bfc5367a-73aa">مشروع تنمية سيناء الجديد</a> عام 1994، ووصل <a href="http://www.ncscr.org.eg/document-details/20190">تعثر الزراعة</a> فيه لـ70%، أما مشروع ترعة السلام (<a href="https://jartf.journals.ekb.eg/article_265523_7b6acca55b1218eb528d021ee131a192.pdf">86 كم في شمال سيناء</a>) فبدأ العمل فيه عام 1979 إلا أنه لم يكتمل حتى الآن، وفي عام 2000 كانت خطة جديدة هدفها توطين 3 ملايين بسيناء، لكن لم يزد عدد سكان الشمال والجنوب عن قرابة 600 ألف في أغلب السنوات. ثم صدر <a href="https://manshurat.org/node/7993">قرار 915 لسنة 2012</a> الخاص بالجهاز الوطني لتنمية سيناء، <a href="https://www.youm7.com/story/2013/4/27/%C2%AB%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%88%D8%B7%D9%86%D9%89-%D9%84%D8%AA%D9%86%D9%85%D9%8A%D8%A9-%D8%B3%D9%8A%D9%86%D8%A7%D8%A1%C2%BB-%D8%AC%D9%87%D8%A7%D8%B2-%D8%B9%D9%84%D9%89-%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%88%D8%B1%D9%82-%D9%88%D9%8A%D8%B5%D8%B1%D9%81-8-3-%D9%85%D9%84%D9%8A%D9%88%D9%86/1038200">لكنه لم يقم بدوره المطلوب</a>، وأطلق <a href="https://www.sis.gov.eg/Story/229446/%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%85%D8%B4%D8%B1%D9%88%D8%B9-%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%82%D9%88%D9%85%D9%8A-%D9%84%D8%AA%D9%86%D9%85%D9%8A%D8%A9-%D8%B3%D9%8A%D9%86%D8%A7%D8%A1?lang=ar">المشروع القومي لتنمية سيناء</a> في 2014، وبناء عليه <a href="https://www.presidency.eg/ar/search?q=%D8%AC%D9%86%D9%88%D8%A8%20%D8%B3%D9%8A%D9%86%D8%A7%D8%A1&amp;l1=3213&amp;l2=-1&amp;l3=0&amp;culture=ar-EG">قامت بعض المشروعات</a> الأخيرة.</p>

<p dir="rtl" style="text-align: justify;">في نوفمبر2023 أعلن <a href="https://www.idsc.gov.eg/NewsLetter/details/8823">مجلس الوزراء</a> أن 6363 مشروعا في كل المجالات تم تنفيذها في سيناء ومدن القناة من 2014 حتى 2022، وتعتبر ثلاثية "الإرهاب والانفلات الأمني و<a href="https://sis.gov.eg/Story/252578/%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%B1%D8%A6%D9%8A%D8%B3-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%B3%D9%8A%D8%B3%D9%8A-%D9%8A%D8%B4%D9%87%D8%AF-%D9%81%D8%A7%D8%B9%D9%84%D9%8A%D8%A9-%D8%AA%D9%81%D9%82%D8%AF-%D8%A7%D8%B5%D8%B7%D9%81%D8%A7%D9%81-%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%85%D8%B9%D8%AF%D8%A7%D8%AA-%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%85%D8%B4%D8%A7%D8%B1%D9%83%D8%A9-%D9%81%D9%8A-%D8%AE%D8%B7%D8%A9-%D8%AA%D9%86%D9%85%D9%8A%D8%A9-%D8%B3%D9%8A%D9%86%D8%A7%D8%A1?lang=ar">نقص التمويل</a>" أهم <a href="https://www.facebook.com/EgyptianCabinet/posts/pfbid02jhfkWa3qYRtuadHwy3RYPnkxFRBGiNZcowQk15miy1xftk64kPSUS7Ub4jkfGpzVl">ما يعرقل</a> تطوير سيناء، خاصة أن التوطين يتطلب حياة مستقرة ومتكاملة من حيث الخدمات. كما اعترف <a href="https://almsaey.akhbarelyom.com/news/newdetails/3420686/1/%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%82%D8%B1%D8%A7%D8%B1-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%A7%D8%B3%D8%AA%D8%B1%D8%A7%D8%AA%D9%8A%D8%AC%D9%8A-%D9%84%D9%84%D8%B1%D8%A6%D9%8A%D8%B3-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%B3%D9%8A%D8%B3%D9%8A-%D9%83%D8%A7%D9%86-%D8%AA%D9%86%D9%85">مدبولي</a> أن تنمية سيناء منذ 2014 قامت على الملف الأمني فقط.</p>
<p dir="rtl" style="text-align: justify;">وتلخص بعض الدراسات <a href="https://jartf.journals.ekb.eg/article_265523_7b6acca55b1218eb528d021ee131a192.pdf">المشكلات التي تواجهها</a> التنمية الزراعية بسيناء في "الحيازة الزراعية للأراضي، وقصور الميكنة، ونقص العمالة، وملوحة مياه الري"، في حين <a href="https://www.almasryalyoum.com/news/details/1396154?fbclid=IwAR2gau2GMimOi4JPqmSIHoFwb4bMuWI8ZECOilI-zFMI7yYmIQMJMWxkU2M">يشتكي مواطنون</a> سيناء أيضا من قرارات مصادرة أراضيهم بعد استصلاحها. وتواجه التنمية الصناعية مشكلات نقص المواد الخام لارتفاع أسعارها أو زيادة تكلفتها نتيجة النقل، وهو ما ينطبق على وقود المصانع، وصعوبة المواصلات سواء لعدم توافرها أو لارتفاع رسوم الطرق.</p>

<p dir="rtl" style="text-align: justify;">بالإضافة إلى ما ورد في <a href="https://gate.ahram.org.eg/News/2870434.aspx">خطة</a> الدولة الجديدة، يرى بعض الخبراء أن <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BLT-uDU-EFs">هناك عناصر أساسية</a> لتنمية سيناء تشمل تمهيد البنية التحتية لجميع الأنشطة الاقتصادية، والعمل على توطين الأفراد بتمليكهم الأراضي وتوفير فرص عمل لهم، واستئناف مشروع ترعة السلام مما يؤدي لزيادة المساحات الزراعية، وإشراك البدو في الأنشطة الاقتصادية والاجتماعية، والتنشيط السياحي للمناطق الساحلية.</p>

<h3 dir="rtl"><strong>توجه عالمي ليس بالضرورة مفيدًا لمصر</strong></h3>
<p dir="rtl" style="text-align: justify;"><a href="https://english.ahram.org.eg/NewsContent/3/12/512550/Business/Economy/Egypt,-Saudi-Arabia-consider-trade-exchange-in-loc.aspx">انضمت</a> كل من مصر والسعودية والإمارات إلى تجمع البريكس أخيرًا، الذي يشجع على زيادة حجم التبادل التجاري بالعملات المحلية في التجارة البينية بين الدول الأعضاء من خلال اتفاقيات ثنائية. و<a href="https://english.ahram.org.eg/NewsContent/3/12/512550/Business/Economy/Egypt,-Saudi-Arabia-consider-trade-exchange-in-loc.aspx">اتفقت</a> الرياض والقاهرة على استخدام العملات المحلية في التجارة بينهما. كما <a href="https://www.cbe.org.eg/?sc_itemid=%7B38AE05FA-1753-4AF2-99DE-4B4A3D052B16%7D&amp;sc_mode=preview&amp;sc_lang=ar&amp;sc_site=CBE">وقع</a> البنك المركزي المصري ومصرف الإمارات اتفاقية لتبادل العملة ويتم بناءً عليها عملية مقايضة بقيمة اسمية تصل إلى 42 مليار جنيه مصري و5 مليارات درهم إماراتي. و<a href="https://english.ahram.org.eg/NewsContent/3/12/512550/Business/Economy/Egypt,-Saudi-Arabia-consider-trade-exchange-in-loc.aspx">أعلنت</a> مصر وتركيا في أكتوبر 2023 عن <a href="https://english.ahram.org.eg/NewsContent/3/12/509567/Business/Economy/Egypt,-Turkey-probing-trade-in-local-currencies-Of.aspx">نيتهم</a>&nbsp;التحضير للبدء في إتمام جزء من تجارتهما بالعملات المحلية. وتتسق تلك الخطوات مع <a href="https://english.ahram.org.eg/NewsContent/3/12/500752/Business/Economy/Why-dedollarizing-Egypt-is-easier-said-than-done.aspx">سعي</a> مصر إلى استيراد القمح باستخدام تبادل العملات المحلية خصوصًا بالروبية الهندية أو اليوان الصيني.</p>

<p dir="rtl" style="text-align: justify;">و<a href="https://www.atlanticcouncil.org/blogs/econographics/understanding-the-growing-use-of-local-currencies-in-cross-border-payments/">اتجهت </a>عدد من الدول، بعد الصدمة الاقتصادية التي أحدثتها العقوبات الاقتصادية الغربية على روسيا، إلى التفكير في التخلي عن الدولار كعملة للتجارة العالمية، وأهمها: روسيا، والصين، والهند، والبرازيل. إلا أن الخطوة تعززها الإرادة السياسية لدول تجمع البريكس. وعالميًّا <a href="https://www.globaltimes.cn/page/202210/1277915.shtml">يبدو</a> أن الخطوة لها رواج حتى داخل الاتحاد الأوروبي.</p>
<h3 dir="rtl"><strong>خسارة حصيلة دولارية أم تقليل للطلب عليها؟</strong></h3>

<p dir="rtl" style="text-align: justify;">جاءت تحويلات المصريين في الخارج في المركز الثاني لمصادر الدولار بـ22.1 مليار دولار، ثم إيرادات السياحة بـ13.6 مليار دولار، وإيرادات رسوم عبور قناة السويس بـ9.4 مليار دولار، في حين&nbsp; تمثل الوجهات التصديرية التي تنوي مصر تقليل الاعتماد على الدولار معها 25٪ من إجمالي الصادرات المصرية، وهي نفس الدول التي تعاني مصر من عجز في الميزان التجاري معها.</p>

<h3 dir="ltr"><strong>Why develop Sinai?</strong></h3>
<p dir="ltr" style="text-align: justify;">Sinai <a href="https://www.gafi.gov.eg/Arabic/Sectors/TargetedSectors/Pages/Mining.aspx">straddles</a> a significant geographical location and has substantial&nbsp;<a href="https://southsinai.gov.eg/StaticContent/TabContent?ParentId=43">recreational, therapeutic, cultural, and religious potential</a> given that it has coastline on both the Red and Mediterranean Seas and tourist resorts in the north and south. It boasts seven nature reserves, as well as mineral wealth (including granite mountains), valleys that retain rainwater for agriculture, and commercial ports such as al-Arish and Nuweiba.</p>
<p dir="ltr" style="text-align: justify;">The Suez governorate offers a <a href="https://swideg-geography.blogspot.com/2017/03/blog-post_843.html">model</a> of how development can draw more human settlement. The government rebuilt the city and established industrial projects that generated jobs, in addition to providing housing, transport, and health services. As a result, internal migration to the city increased, and the population of Suez quadrupled from 1947 to 1996.</p>
<h3 dir="ltr"><strong>Unfinished development plans</strong></h3>
<p dir="ltr" style="text-align: justify;">After the <a href="https://www.sis.gov.eg/Story/217927/%D8%B9%D9%8A%D8%AF-%D8%AA%D8%AD%D8%B1%D9%8A%D8%B1-%D8%B3%D9%8A%D9%86%D8%A7%D8%A1?lang=ar">full liberation</a> of Sinai on April 25, 1982, successive governments drafted plans to develop the peninsula. The <a href="https://www.mwri.gov.eg/north-sinai/#1577793015114-bfc5367a-73aa">New Sinai Development Project</a> was unveiled in 1994, but 70% of the agricultural component <a href="http://www.ncscr.org.eg/document-details/20190">failed</a>. Work began on the Salam Canal, <a href="https://jartf.journals.ekb.eg/article_265523_7b6acca55b1218eb528d021ee131a192.pdf">an 86-km waterway</a> in North Sinai, in 1979, though it has yet to be completed. In 2000, a new plan was announced that aimed to settle 3 million people in Sinai, but the population of the north and south did not exceed some 600,000 in most years. <a href="https://manshurat.org/node/7993">Decree 915 of 2012</a> created the National Authority for Sinai Development, but the agency <a href="https://www.youm7.com/story/2013/4/27/%C2%AB%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%88%D8%B7%D9%86%D9%89-%D9%84%D8%AA%D9%86%D9%85%D9%8A%D8%A9-%D8%B3%D9%8A%D9%86%D8%A7%D8%A1%C2%BB-%D8%AC%D9%87%D8%A7%D8%B2-%D8%B9%D9%84%D9%89-%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%88%D8%B1%D9%82-%D9%88%D9%8A%D8%B5%D8%B1%D9%81-8-3-%D9%85%D9%84%D9%8A%D9%88%D9%86/1038200">did not play</a> its designated role. The <a href="https://www.sis.gov.eg/Story/229446/%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%85%D8%B4%D8%B1%D9%88%D8%B9-%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%82%D9%88%D9%85%D9%8A-%D9%84%D8%AA%D9%86%D9%85%D9%8A%D8%A9-%D8%B3%D9%8A%D9%86%D8%A7%D8%A1?lang=ar">National Project for Sinai Development</a> was subsequently launched in 2014, and a <a href="https://www.presidency.eg/ar/search?q=%D8%AC%D9%86%D9%88%D8%A8%20%D8%B3%D9%8A%D9%86%D8%A7%D8%A1&amp;l1=3213&amp;l2=-1&amp;l3=0&amp;culture=ar-EG">few recent projects</a> were undertaken as part of the plan.&nbsp;</p>

<h3 dir="ltr"><strong>Difficulties of development</strong></h3>
<p dir="ltr" style="text-align: justify;">In November 2023, the <a href="https://www.idsc.gov.eg/NewsLetter/details/8823">Cabinet</a> announced that 6,363 projects in all fields would be implemented in Sinai and the Canal cities from 2014 to 2022. The most significant <a href="https://www.facebook.com/EgyptianCabinet/posts/pfbid02jhfkWa3qYRtuadHwy3RYPnkxFRBGiNZcowQk15miy1xftk64kPSUS7Ub4jkfGpzVl">impediment</a> to the development of Sinai can be summed up in the trio of terrorism, security instability, and <a href="https://sis.gov.eg/Story/252578/%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%B1%D8%A6%D9%8A%D8%B3-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%B3%D9%8A%D8%B3%D9%8A-%D9%8A%D8%B4%D9%87%D8%AF-%D9%81%D8%A7%D8%B9%D9%84%D9%8A%D8%A9-%D8%AA%D9%81%D9%82%D8%AF-%D8%A7%D8%B5%D8%B7%D9%81%D8%A7%D9%81-%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%85%D8%B9%D8%AF%D8%A7%D8%AA-%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%85%D8%B4%D8%A7%D8%B1%D9%83%D8%A9-%D9%81%D9%8A-%D8%AE%D8%B7%D8%A9-%D8%AA%D9%86%D9%85%D9%8A%D8%A9-%D8%B3%D9%8A%D9%86%D8%A7%D8%A1?lang=ar">lack of funding</a>. Settlement of the peninsula requires a stable life and the provision of integrated services. <a href="https://almsaey.akhbarelyom.com/news/newdetails/3420686/1/%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%82%D8%B1%D8%A7%D8%B1-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%A7%D8%B3%D8%AA%D8%B1%D8%A7%D8%AA%D9%8A%D8%AC%D9%8A-%D9%84%D9%84%D8%B1%D8%A6%D9%8A%D8%B3-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%B3%D9%8A%D8%B3%D9%8A-%D9%83%D8%A7%D9%86-%D8%AA%D9%86%D9%85">Madbouly</a> has also admitted that since 2014, the development of Sinai has been based solely on the security aspect.</p>
<p dir="ltr" style="text-align: justify;">Some research finds that agricultural development in Sinai <a href="https://jartf.journals.ekb.eg/article_265523_7b6acca55b1218eb528d021ee131a192.pdf">is hindered</a> by issues with agricultural land tenure, the lack of mechanization, labor shortages, and the salinity of irrigation water. Sinai <a href="https://www.almasryalyoum.com/news/details/1396154?fbclid=IwAR2gau2GMimOi4JPqmSIHoFwb4bMuWI8ZECOilI-zFMI7yYmIQMJMWxkU2M">residents also complain</a> about the confiscation of their land after reclamation. Industrial development faces the problem of a scarcity of raw materials, including fuel for factories, due to both high prices and the extra cost incurred in transport, as well as the difficulty of transport, whether due to the unavailability of transportation infrastructure or high road tolls.</p>

<h3 dir="ltr"><strong>What is the solution?</strong></h3>
<p dir="ltr" style="text-align: justify;">In addition to provisions in the state&rsquo;s <a href="https://gate.ahram.org.eg/News/2870434.aspx">new plan</a>, some experts point to some <a href="https://www.almasryalyoum.com/news/details/3026001">basic components</a> that are necessary for the development of Sinai, including basic infrastructure for all economic activities and action to settle individuals by giving them ownership of land and providing jobs. The Salam Canal project should be resumed, as it will increase available agricultural land in the Sinai Peninsula, and Bedouins should be involved in economic and social activities. Finally, the revitalization of tourism in coastal areas should be a priority.</p>

<h3 dir="ltr"><span style="color: rgb(6, 71, 137);"><strong>Abandoning the Dollar in Egyptian Trade: A Solution or a More Profound Crisis?</strong></span></h3>
<p dir="ltr" style="text-align: justify;">Egypt <a href="https://cnnbusinessarabic.com/economy/33125/%D8%AD%D8%B5%D9%8A%D9%84%D8%A9-%D9%85%D8%B5%D8%B1-%D9%85%D9%86-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%AF%D9%88%D9%84%D8%A7%D8%B1?utm_source=Google&amp;utm_medium=Paid&amp;utm_campaign=&amp;gad_source=1&amp;gclid=CjwKCAiAvJarBhA1EiwAGgZl0JrLN75WgLd7AwsuuPrP9sUPpWktZqDcXfOLJTWHvGzwj5doG4Wm3hoC8fYQAvD_BwE">has taken</a> steps to partially abandon the use of the dollar in its foreign trade with several countries. Questions remain, however, about the usefulness of the move, especially since some states with which Egypt is signing these agreements are significant importers of Egyptian products.</p>

<h3 dir="ltr"><strong>A global trend that does not necessarily benefit Egypt</strong></h3>
<p dir="ltr" style="text-align: justify;">Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE recently <a href="https://english.ahram.org.eg/NewsContent/3/12/512550/Business/Economy/Egypt,-Saudi-Arabia-consider-trade-exchange-in-loc.aspx">joined</a> the BRICS group, which encourages increasing the use of local currencies in bilateral trade between member states. Riyadh and Cairo <a href="https://english.ahram.org.eg/NewsContent/3/12/512550/Business/Economy/Egypt,-Saudi-Arabia-consider-trade-exchange-in-loc.aspx">have agreed</a> to transact their bilateral trade in local currency, and the Central Bank of Egypt and the Central Bank of the UAE also <a href="https://www.cbe.org.eg/?sc_itemid=%7B38AE05FA-1753-4AF2-99DE-4B4A3D052B16%7D&amp;sc_mode=preview&amp;sc_lang=ar&amp;sc_site=CBE">signed</a> a currency swap agreement with a nominal value of up to EGP42 billion and AED5 billion. In October 2023, Egypt and Turkey <a href="https://english.ahram.org.eg/NewsContent/3/12/512550/Business/Economy/Egypt,-Saudi-Arabia-consider-trade-exchange-in-loc.aspx">announced</a> their <a href="https://english.ahram.org.eg/NewsContent/3/12/509567/Business/Economy/Egypt,-Turkey-probing-trade-in-local-currencies-Of.aspx">intention</a> to prepare to conduct part of their trade in local currencies. These steps are consistent with Egypt&rsquo;s <a href="https://english.ahram.org.eg/NewsContent/3/12/500752/Business/Economy/Why-dedollarizing-Egypt-is-easier-said-than-done.aspx">quest</a> to import wheat using local currency swaps, especially in Indian rupees or Chinese yuan.</p>

<p dir="ltr" style="text-align: justify;">After the economic shock caused by Western economic sanctions on Russia, a number of states&nbsp;<a href="https://www.atlanticcouncil.org/blogs/econographics/understanding-the-growing-use-of-local-currencies-in-cross-border-payments/">have considered</a> abandoning the dollar as the currency of global trade, most importantly Russia, China, India, and Brazil. The move is bolstered by the political will of the BRICS countries, and globally, de-dollarization <a href="https://www.globaltimes.cn/page/202210/1277915.shtml">seems</a> to be gaining in popularity within the EU as well.</p>
<h3 dir="ltr"><strong>Loss of dollar earnings or reduced demand for dollars?</strong></h3>

<p dir="ltr" style="text-align: justify;">Remittances from Egyptians abroad constituted the second&nbsp; biggest source of dollars, bringing in USD22.1 billion, followed by tourism revenues at USD13.6 billion and Suez Canal transit fees at USD9.4 billion. The trading partners with which Egypt intends to reduce its dependence on the dollar receive 25% of total Egyptian exports, and these are the same countries with which Egypt maintains a trade deficit.</p>

<p dir="ltr" style="text-align: justify;">Abandoning the dollar may <a href="https://www.financederivative.com/the-implications-of-de-dollarization-on-the-economy-and-international-trade/#:~:text=For%20example%2C%20for%20many%20developing,through%20the%20diversification%20of%20reserves.">help</a> to <a href="https://theafrican.co.za/featured/de-dollarization-viable-solution-for-the-developing-countries-84ac9a01-1b51-4d35-9fd0-5e63d1c1a67d/">reduce</a> the exposure of developing countries to dollar price fluctuations, as well as diversify their monetary reserves, but whether it is successful <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/de-dollarization-its-impact-developing-countries-chelsea-nchoko/">depends</a> on the strength of the local currency, economic indicators, and the degree of dependence on international trade and finance. The move <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/de-dollarization-its-impact-developing-countries-chelsea-nchoko/">could pose a threat</a> to the most economically fragile states. Egypt, like other low-income countries, relies on international finance such as grants and aid, making it more vulnerable to the vagaries of economic crises, which in turn weakens the local currency and makes it harder to use as a currency in foreign trade. To <a href="https://theafrican.co.za/featured/de-dollarization-viable-solution-for-the-developing-countries-84ac9a01-1b51-4d35-9fd0-5e63d1c1a67d/">reap the benefits</a> of bilateral trade in local currency, Egypt must first achieve a positive trade balance with the target country.</p>
