This article discusses the main problem researchers face when trying to devise solutions for Egypt’s water crisis: funding. It talks about three techniques that might be solutions for the upcoming water shortage: El Hagary’s water-saving planting and plowing technique, Alexandria University’s desalination through cheap membrane evaporation, as well as revising “gray” wastewater. The article talks about budget constraints that restrict researchers’ and research centres’ work. Lastly the solutions for this issue include an increase in research funds, cooperation between research centres, academic institutions and the government. This article is useful because it highlights lack of funding as a major obstacle to solving the water crisis in Egypt.
