فصل ضمن الاستطلاع الاقتصادي الذي تصدره وزارة المالية الهندية. ويتناول الفصل أفاق تطبيق مقترح الدخل الأساسي في الهند. يتضمن الفصل وصف للوضع القائم لبرامج الرفاهة العينية المطبقة في الهند والمشاكل التي تعاني منها مثل الفساد والمشاكل الأخرى المرتبطة بالاستهداف. ينتهي الفصل لاقتراح منح الدخل الأساسي ل 75% فقط من السكان حيث لن يمنح لأغنى 25% أو ان يتم منح الدخل الأساسي الشامل لبعض الفئات مثل المرأة، والأطفال، وكبار السن، وذوي الإعاقة كخطوة مبدئية ثم يتم توسيع قاعدة المستفيدين لتشمل فئات أخرى أو أن يتم تطبيقه في بعض المناطق الجغرافية مثل المناطق الحضرية كخطوة أولية.

It is a chapter included in the economic survey issued by the Indian ministry of finance. The chapter is discussing the prospects of implementing universal basic income (UBI) in India. The chapter is also discussing the problems of the current welfare programs in India including: wastage, leakage, and corruption. The chapter ends up with proposing what is called a de-facto universal basic income where the richest 25% of the Indian population will be excluded from the scheme. The chapter also proposes phasing in the scheme through providing it first to some segments of the society such as women, elders, children or the disabled or to phase it in geographically through implementing it first in urban areas. &nbsp;&nbsp;
