In this study, the author is discussing the pension system in Egypt, showing its pros (coverage of large part of the labor force and insuring against many social risks) and cons (danger of low fiscal sustainability in the future, incompatibility of contribution and pension received and the disincentives of the system). The author showed that the current pension system in Egypt tends to be considered &ldquo;pay as you go- defined benefits&rdquo; system run by the government and she finally recommended that this system should be turned into &ldquo;a fully funded-defined contribution&rdquo; system run by private companies under the supervision of the government.
