يُقدّم هذا التّقرير تحليلًا للأثر البيئي لصناعة الأسمنت في مصر، ويتقصّى العقبات الرّئيسيّة في سبيل تخفيف آثار الانبعاثات. تُقدّم الدّراسة بعنوان "خريطة طريق كربون أقلّ لصناعة الأسمنت المصرية" التي أعدّها البنك الأوروبي للإنشاء والتعمير وجهاز شؤون البيئة المصري وغرفة صناعة مواد البناء/قِسم صناعة الأسمنت بالتعاون مع وزارة التجارة والصناعة المصرية ومبادرة استدامة الأسمنت التابعة إلى مجلس الأعمال العالمي للتنمية المستدامة، توصيات تُمكّن بحلول عام 2030 مِن إحداث تحوّلٍ كاملٍ في الزيادة المتوقّعة في انبعاثات ثاني أكسيد الكربون نتيجة لتغيير نوع الوقود. وبحلول عام 2030 لن تكون هناك حاجة إلى استيراد 2.2 مليون طنّ مِن الفحم، وهو ما يوفّر 200 مليون دولار أمريكي.

Summary: This report provides analysis on the environmental impact of Egypt's cement industry, and examines key obstacles to emissions mitigation. Devised by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency (EEAA) and the Chamber of Building Materials Industries / Cement Industry Division (CBMI), in collaboration with the Egypt Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) and the Cement Sustainability Initiative (CSI) of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), the &ldquo;Low-Carbon Roadmap for the Egyptian Cement Industry&rdquo; offers recommendations which will enable, by 2030, a complete reversal in the projected CO2 emission increase from the fuel switch. By 2030, 2.2 million tonnes of coal will no longer have to be imported, saving about USD 200 million.
