&nbsp;إحياءً لذكرى نكبة عام 1948، وبينما يواجه الشعب الفلسطيني في وقتنا الحالي نكبة جديدة في غزة، يستضيف مشروع &laquo;حلول للسياسات البديلة&raquo; بالجامعة الأمريكية في القاهرة د. عاطف أبو سيف وزير الثقافة في الحكومة الفلسطينية من أبريل 2019 حتى إبريل 2024 في ندوة بعنوان &ldquo;البعد الثقافي في نكبة فلسطين.&rdquo;&nbsp;
&nbsp;للنكبة مكون ثقافي ومعرفي كشفت عنه طبيعة الجرائم التي يرتكبها جيش الاحتلال في حربه ضد غزة كما جرائم العصابات الصهيونية خلال النكبة. فاستهداف القطاع الثقافي والتراث المادي في قطاع غزة ليس "أضراراً جانبية" بل سمة أساسية من سمات المشروع الصهيوني.
يتناول هذا اللقاء المكون الثقافي للنكبة الفلسطينية منذ عام 1948 وحتى الآن، كما يقدم فهمًا للصراع على السرديات والتدمير المنهجي للثقافة والمعرفة الفلسطينية من قبل الاحتلال قبل وأثناء الحرب الحالية.
د. عاطف أبو سيف وزير الثقافة في الحكومة الفلسطينية من أبريل 2019 حتى إبريل 2024، والكاتب الذي نشرت له عشر روايات آخرها "ممرات هشة". ترشحت روايته "حياة معلقة" للقائمة القصيرة لجائزة البوكر العربية عام 2015 وروايته "الحاجة كريستينا" للقائمة الطويلة من ذات الجائزة عام 2016، كما فازت روايته "قارب من يافا" بجائزة كتارا في عام 2018. إلى جانب ذلك صدر له ثلاث مجموعات قصصية، كما كتب للمسرح 5 مسرحيات مثلت على الخشبة في غزة.&nbsp;
ولد في عام 1973 في مخيم جباليا لعائلة تهّجرت خلال النكبة من مدينة يافا. درّس العلوم السياسية في الجامعات الفلسطينية في غزة. له مجموعة من الكتب منها "المجتمع المدني والدولة: قراءة تأصيلية مع إحالة للواقع الفلسطيني"، "علاقات إسرائيل الدولية"، "الشراكة الناعمة: الإتحاد الأوروبي وإسرائيل"، و"أوروبا والبحث عن دور". رأس تحرير مجلة "سياسات" الصادرة عن معهد السياسات العامة، الذي ساهم في تأسيسه، من الفترة 2007-2019.&nbsp;
أمضى الأشهر الثلاثة الأولى من الحرب الجارية في غزة، حيث كان يواظب على كتابة يومياته&nbsp; باللغتين العربية والإنجليزية&nbsp; في صحيفة الأيام الفلسطينية، للعربي الجديد، ونيويورك تايمز، والجارديان، والواشنطن بوست، والليموند، ودير شبيغل، وكوريرا ديلا سيرا، وذا نيشن وغيرها. صدرت اليوميات في كتاب بالعربية بعنوان "وقت مستقطع للنجاة" وبالإنجليزية بعنوان "Don&rsquo;t Look Left: A Genocide Diary" وقدم له الصحفي كريس هيدجز وتم ترجمته إلى 11 لغة وتبرع عاطف بريع الكتاب لصالح الجمعيات العاملة في حقل الإغاثة في قطاع غزة. كما صدر له قبل ذلك يومياته خلال حرب 2014 بعنوان "The Drone Eats with Me" التي قدم لها ناعوم تشومسكي.
تدير اللقاء الدكتورة رباب المهدي، أستاذة العلوم السياسية المشاركة في الجامعة الأمريكية بالقاهرة ومديرة مشروع حلول للسياسات البديلة.

In commemoration of the 1948 Nakba, and as the Palestinian people currently face a new one in Gaza, Alternative Policy Solutions at The American University in Cairo is hosting Dr. Atef Abu Saif, Palestinian Minister of Culture, April 2019-April 2024, in a public talk entitled &ldquo;The Palestinian Nakba... A Cultural Perspective.&rdquo;
The Palestinian Nakba has a cultural and knowledge component, which was revealed by the occupation army in its war against Gaza, as well as by Zionist gangs during the Nakba. Targeting the cultural sector and tangible heritage in the Gaza Strip is not &ldquo;collateral damage,&rdquo; but rather a fundamental feature of the Zionist project.
This talk addresses the&nbsp; cultural component of the Palestinian Nakba from 1948 till now. It provides an understanding of the struggle over narratives and&nbsp; the systemic destruction of the Palestinian culture and knowledge by the occupation before and during the current war.
Dr. Atef Abu Saif was Palestinian Minister of Culture from April 2019 until April 2024. He is the author of ten novels, the most recent of which is Fragile Paths. His novel, A Suspended Life, was shortlisted for the International Prize for Arabic Fiction (Arabic Booker) in 2015, and his novel, Hajji Christina, was longlisted for the same award in 2016. His novel, A Boat from Jaffa, won the Katara Prize in 2018. In addition to that, he has published three short story collections, and Written 5 plays staged in Gaza.&nbsp;
He was born in 1973 in Jabalia Refugee Camp to a family displaced from Jaffa during the Nakba. He taught Political Science at Palestinian universities in Gaza. He has a number of books, including Civil Society and the State: A Theoretical Perspective with Particular Reference to Palestine, Israel&rsquo;s International Relations, Soft Partnership: The European Union and Israel, and Europe and the Search for a Role. He was the Chief Editor of Siyasat magazine, published by the Public Policy Institute in Ramallah, which he helped establish, from 2007-2019.
He spent the first three months of the current war in Gaza, where he wrote his diaries&nbsp; and published them in major&nbsp; newspapers, including the PalestinianAl-Ayyam newspaper to Al-Arabi Al-Jadeed, The New York Times, The Guardian, The Washington Post, Le Monde, Der Spiegel, Corriere della Sera, The Nation among others. The diaries were recently published as book under the title Don&rsquo;t Look Left: A Genocide Diary. The book was introduced by journalist Chris Hedges and translated into 11 languages. He donated the book revenue to relief organizations in the Gaza Strip. He also published his diaries during the 2014 war, entitled The Drone Eats with Me, introduced by Noam Chomsky.
The talk will be moderated by Dr. Rabab El Mahdi, Associate Professor of Political Science at The American University in Cairo and Director of Alternative Policy Solutions (APS).
