نظم مشروع "حلول للسياسات البديلة"، ندوة بعنوان "النكبة الفلسطينية.. معركة الصمود والبقاء" في الجامعة الأمريكية بالقاهرة يوم الثلاثاء 14 مايو. استضافت الندوة فدوى البرغوثي، المحامية البارزة والناشطة الحقوقية وزوجة الأسير الفلسطيني مروان البرغوثي، القيادي في حركة فتح.

تحدثت فدوى البرغوثي عن استمرار النكبة الفلسطينية على مدى أكثر من 100 عام، وأكدت أن الشعب الفلسطيني لم ينكسر رغم محاولات المشروع الصهيوني الاستعماري طرد الفلسطينيين. أشارت إلى وجود سبعة ملايين فلسطيني في الداخل و14 مليونًا حول العالم ما زالوا يواجهون الاحتلال بالصمود، وأكدت أن المقاومة الفلسطينية مستمرة منذ 100 عام وستظل صامدة.
&nbsp;أشارت البرغوثي إلى أن الشعب الفلسطيني يتعرض لجرائم الإبادة الجماعية والتطهير العرقي، وأكدت أن غزة هي الساحة الأكبر للحرب الشاملة على الشعب الفلسطيني، ولكن هناك ساحات أخرى في الضفة الغربية والقدس وسجون الاحتلال الإسرائيلي تشهد انتهاكات وجرائم من قبل الاحتلال.

ذكرت أن هناك أكثر من 5000 أسير فلسطيني في سجون الاحتلال و14 أسيرًا استشهدوا خلال الأشهر السبعة الماضية بسبب التعذيب والإهمال. تحدثت فدوى عن تجربة زوجها، حيث قضى مروان البرغوثي 23 عامًا في السجون الاسرائيلية، مؤكدة&nbsp; أن الأشهر السبعة الأخيرة هم الأصعب عليه منذ اعتقاله.

ذكرت أنه تعرض للاعتقال في الـ18 من عمره، وتعرض حينها للاعتداء من قبل جنود الاحتلال، مما أسفر عن ندبة واضحة على جبينه. بعد أكثر من أربعة عقود تعرض لاعتداءات جديدة في 7 أكتوبر، حيث أصيب في الجهة المقابلة للندبة الأولى على جبينه. تقول البرغوثى أن تلك المسافة بين النكبتين ترمز إلى مسيرته النضالية التي لم تتوقف أبدًا. أشارت أيضًا إلى أن مروان البرغوثي ناقش رسالة الدكتوراه في إحدى الجامعات المصرية أثناء احتجازه، وحقق نجاحًا مميزًا وحصل على درجة الامتياز من محبسه في سابقة فريدة.

أكدت في نهاية كلمتها أن المجتمع الدولي يقدر تجربة مروان في النضال، ويلقبه "مانديلا فلسطين". تقول أن أثناء زيارتها لأكثر من 50 دولة حول العالم لمناصرة قضية زوجها وجدت الدعم والتضامن. منحت 15 مدينة أوروبية زوجها لقب "مناضل"، ونظمت مهرجانات واحتفالات تكريمًا له في مختلف المدن الفرنسية. كما تم تسمية شوارع باسمه في مدن مختلفة حول العالم.

On Tuesday, the 14th of May, Alternative Policy Solutions (APS) hosted a prominent lawyer, human rights activist and leader of the International Campaign for the Release of Marwan Al Barghouthi, Mrs Fadwa Al Barghouthi. She gave a public talk entitled &ldquo;The Palestinian Nakba&hellip;The Battle of Resilience and Survival&rdquo;.&nbsp;

Despite the century-long ongoing Nakba and the Zionist attempts to expel the Palestinians and colonise their land, Al Barghouthi affirmed that the resilience of her people has not waned. She pointed to the existence of seven million Palestinians inside historical Palestine, as well as 14 million around the world, who continue to resist the occupation of their land. &ldquo;Wherever there is occupation, there will be resistance,&rdquo; stated Al Barghouthi.&nbsp;
She emphasized the struggle of Palestinian prisoners inside the occupation prisons and the suffering they endure along with their families. Al Barghouthi explained that there are currently more than 5000 Palestinians inside Israeli prisons, 14 of whom have died in the past seven months due to torture and negligence.&nbsp;

Her husband, Marwan Al Barghouthi, has spent 23 years inside Israeli prisons. Yet, she proclaims that the past seven months have been the most grueling since his arrest.

Marwan Al Barghouthi was arrested at 18 years old and assaulted by the occupation forces, resulting in a visible scar on his forehead. Four decades later, on the 7th of October, he was attacked once more. The second attack left another scar on the mirroring side of his forehead. Symbolically, the space between these scars holds within it Marwan&rsquo;s journey of unrelenting struggle, remarked Al Barghouthi.&nbsp;
While in prison, Marwan also successfully defended his doctoral thesis remotely at the Institute for Research and Arab Studies of the Arab League in Cairo, receiving high distinction despite his imprisonment.&nbsp;

Al Barghouti ended her talk by stating that in her journey around the 50 countries she visited to advocate for her husband&rsquo;s release, those she met expressed appreciation for his struggle, labeling him &ldquo;the Palestinian Mandela''. She added that 15 European cities have awarded him honourary citizenship, many French cities have held ceremonies for him, and others renamed streets after Marwan.
