<h2>أثر ارتفاع أسعار الفائدة على التضخم ونمو القطاع الخاص</h2>
قرر البنك المركزي المصري في اجتماعه الخميس 30 مارس 2023 رفع أسعار الفائدة بنسبة 2% (200 نقطة)، لتصل إلى 18.25% للإيداع، و19.25% للإقراض، و18.75% لسعر الائتمان، سعيًا إلى السيطرة على التضخم. وقد وصل معدل التضخم الأساسي &ndash; الذي يستثني أسعار السلع الأكثر تقلبًا (الغذاء والطاقة) &ndash; في فبراير 2023 إلى 40.3%، مسجلًا أعلى معدل له على الإطلاق. ويهدف المركزي إلى رفع الفائدة لتعويض المدَّخِرين عن الفارق بين معدلات الفائدة السائدة حاليًّا في البنوك ومعدلات التضخم المرتفعة، والذي يأكل قيمة مدخراتهم، لدفعهم إلى مزيد من الادخار في مقابل الإنفاق الاستهلاكي، وبالتالي امتصاص السيولة وكبح التضخم في الأسواق. وبحسب توقعات بنوك عالمية، فإن البنك المركزي سوف يتجه إلى تخفيضٍ رابعٍ لقيمة الجنيه قريبًا، قد يتجاوز سعره حدود الـ35 جنيهًا للدولار.

<h2>مستقبل سوق السيارات الكهربائية في مصر</h2>
وافق البرلمان الأوروبي &nbsp;شهر فبراير الماضي على حظر مبيعات السيارات الجديدة التي تعمل بالبنزين والديزل بدءًا من عام 2035 ومن ثم إلغاء قيادتها على طرق النقل الأوروبية 2050. يمنح هذا الحظر شركات صناعة السيارات الأوروبية نطاقًا زمنيًّا واضحًا للتحول إلى سيارات كهربائية عديمة الانبعاثات، ودفع عملية الإنتاج إلى التنافس مع الصين والولايات المتحدة اللتين تتخذان أيضًا خطوات كبيرة نحو الانتقال إلى السيارات الكهربائية. وهو التحول الذي تؤيده نسبة الارتفاع المطرد لمبيعات السيارات الكهربائية عالميًّا، حيث بلغت 10.5 مليون سيارة في 2022، وهو ضعف ما حققته مبيعات العام الأسبق. ومن المتوقع أن تسمح هذه التطورات انخفاضات كبيرة في أسعار البطاريات، &nbsp;وتساهم في تجاوز مبيعات السيارات الكهربائية على السيارات التي تعمل بالبنزين والديزل بنحو 6.6 مليون سيارة بحلول عام 2040.

<h2>Impact of Rising Interest Rates on Inflation and Private Sector Growth</h2>
In its effort to contain inflation, the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) on Thursday, March 30, 2023, raised interest rates by 2% (200 points), to reach 18.25% for deposits, 19.25% for lending, and 18.75% for the main operations rate. The core inflation rate &ndash; which excludes the prices of the most volatile commodities (food and energy) &ndash; topped out at 40.3% in February 2023, hitting an all-time high. In raising interest rates, the CBE aims to offset the difference between the banks&rsquo; interest rate and inflation, pushing consumers to save rather than spend, thus absorbing liquidity and curbing inflation in the markets. International banks anticipate a fourth devaluation of the Egyptian pound soon, settling at more than EGP35 to the dollar.

<h2>The Future of the Electric Car Market in Egypt</h2>
In February 2023, the European Parliament approved a ban on the sale of new gasoline and diesel-driven cars starting in 2035, with the aim of achieving a carbon-neutral transport sector by 2050. The ban gives European automakers a clear timeline to switch production to zero-emission vehicles and will make the continent&rsquo;s auto industry better able to compete with its counterparts in China and the United States. The transition to electric vehicles is supported by the steady rise in global electric car sales, which doubled from 2021 to 2022, reaching 10.5 million cars. These developments are expected to allow significant reductions in battery prices, and analysts anticipate that electric vehicles will outsell petrol and diesel vehicles by about 6.6 million cars by 2040.
